Overview

Manages and directs the overall operations and functions of the front lobby. Directs and assists all patients, visitors, and vendors to the appropriate areas. Monitors the lobby for unusual occurrences, including assisting to expedite extended waits for patients to be registered or to be seen in any specific department. The Lobby Manager is responsible for contacting the appropriate department when a patient has arrived for specified treatments or procedures and to see that the patient is seen in a timely fashion. Provides management of telephone calls.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and assists all patients, visitors, and vendors to the appropriate areas; including answering telephone inquiries.
  • Greets each individual with a welcoming smile and friendly “hello.” Presents a positive, caring image of the hospital and its focus.
  • Is compassionate and courteous to all patients, visitors, and vendors.
  • Monitors all activities in the lobby and reports any unusual occurrences to the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitors those who are waiting to be registered or are awaiting treatment and helps to expedite those who have been waiting for an extended period of time.
  • Informs Patient Registration when someone is waiting to be registered in a timely fashion.
  • Notifies specific departments when a scheduled patient has arrived.
  • Provides management of telephone calls. Maintains professional phone etiquette at all times.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and functional work area.
  • Participates in the training of new employees.
  • Actively maintains current knowledge of all data information systems.
  • Actively maintains current knowledge of all information procedural changes..
  • Maintains a positive and caring attitude towards patients. Maintains professional phone etiquette at all times.
  • The employee communicates information to patients, family, and visitors that is easily understood and helps to increase their knowledge or skill in meeting their health care needs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and record well enough to follow specific instructions.
  • Ability to use independent judgement.
  • Ability to communicate well with others written and verbally.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • One year healthcare experience and medical terminology is beneficial.
