Overview

Works independently in performing various speech and language activities. Reports to Director of Rehab Services
for administrative support. Provides appropriate therapy by assessing patient needs, planning care, providing
educational support, and evaluating care given.

Responsibilities

  • Completes thorough and accurate patient assessments utilizing speech and language skills and interviewing techniques.
  • Develops and coordinates treatment protocols/programs for patients referred to speech and language
    service.
  • Plans appropriate therapy interventions based on assessed needs.
  • Evaluates care given for effectiveness and appropriateness. Adapts treatment protocols as needed.
  • Consults with physicians regarding any change in patient condition on treatment program.
  • Includes patient and family/caregiver in care, and educates caregiver on proper techniques in caring for the
    patient.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and coordinates patient care activities as they relate to speech and language pathology
    services. Provides feedback to department Director on patient care matters.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge:
Requires completion of clinical fellowship year as well as certification of clinical competency and licensure with
the State of Indiana. Holds a master’s degree or equivalent from an approved college or university in Speech and
Language Pathology.


Minimum Experience:
Preferred 1-2 years of job-related experience.
